As per the directives of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the Ordinances promulgated by the Central Government on 24.05.2016, NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) was conducted twice in 2016 by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The AIPMT-2016/NEET- I was conducted on 1st May, 2016. NEET-II was conducted on Sunday, the 24th July, 2016. The judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and Ordinances was uploaded on NEET website.
The responsibility of the CBSE is limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and providing All India Rank to the Counseling Authorities and Admitting Institutions.
NEET 2016 marking scheme
Question paper comprises of 180 questions which include 45 questions from Physics, 45 questions from Chemistry and remaining 90 questions from Biology. For each correct answer, candidate would be awarded +4 marks while for each wrong response he/she would get -1 marks. Thus a total of maximum 720 marks was possible.
NEET 2016 appeared and qualified candidates
As per CBSE, out of the total 7,31,223 appeared candidates, as many as 4,09,477 have qualified for admissions to UG medical programmes across medical colleges of India.
NEET-I was conducted across 1040 centres in 52 cities in India and abroad, while NEET-II was conducted at 739 centres in 56 cities in India.
